The number one way cyber criminals access your account is through weak passwords. Follow these tips to make and manage strong passwords.
USE STRONG PASSWORDS
- Make your passwords:
- Long: BC advises 8 to 14 characters. Longer is stronger!
- Complex/Random: Use upper and lowercase letters, and numbers. Don鈥檛 use dictionary words that are easy to guess.
- Unique: Use a different password for each account.
How can you remember all those long, complex, and unique passwords? You don鈥檛 have to! Use a password manager to help remember them for you.
USE A PASSWORD MANAGER
- Password managers can:
- Store all your passwords
- Tell you when you have weak or re-used passwords
- Generate strong passwords for you
- Automatically fill logins into sites and apps
