Sociology of sport (children鈥檚 sport; women鈥檚 sport; nationalism; sport in developing nations; sport and higher education). A geographic area of interest is Central America, with a special emphasis on Nicaragua.
Michael Malec鈥檚 main area of research is in the sociology of sport, with a special focus on children鈥檚 sport, nationalism, and sport in developing nations. His primary teaching responsibilities are for the required introductory statistics course for both undergraduate and graduate students.
