Elie Wiesel once wrote, “Friendship marks a life even more deeply than love.” We may intuitively know what he means, but what is it that makes friendship so powerful? In the mid-twentieth century, a network of Catholic artists, theologians, and philosophers thought and wrote passionately about friendship and its transformative possibilities. In this lecture Professor Brenna Moore explores these Catholic reflections on friendship, moving beyond the realm of emotion in private life, to probe the vast domains of political, intellectual, and ultimately, spiritual transformation.
