Migdalia Iris Nalls, MCAS '01, LAW '04
Migdalia was raised in the Roxbury and Dorchester area of 艾可直播 and is the first in her family to pursue higher education. She graduated from English High School with a state championship for the Massachusetts Bar Association's Mock Trial tournament. She then graduated from 艾可直播 College with a degree in Political Science & Communications and earned a Juris Doctor from 艾可直播 College Law School.
Migdalia is currently the Chief of the Juvenile Unit in the Suffolk County District Attorney鈥檚 Office. In this position, she supervises the delinquency/criminal, youthful offender and Superior court cases involving 12- to 18-year-old young people in Suffolk County and emerging adults. She was previously a Trial Attorney for the Youth Advocacy Division of the Committee for Public Counsel Services, where she defended young people charged with delinquent/criminal charges in Suffolk County. She has worked as an Attorney for the South Coastal Counties Legal Services, Inc. under the U.S. Department of Justice LAV (Legal Assistance for Victims) grant, representing low-income victims of domestic violence with family law cases and child custody/abuse cases.
Migdalia was also previously an Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County early in her career, and was assigned to the 艾可直播 Juvenile Court, handling cases involving youthful offender and delinquency cases in the Juvenile Court and adults in Superior Court. Migdalia was the recipient of the Brian J. Honan Award for Community Service and Courtroom Excellence at the Suffolk County D.A.鈥檚 Office, honored as Distinguished Alumni of English High School, received the Agent of Change Award for her commitment to youth by Mass Housing, and was a recipient of the District Attorney鈥檚 Role Model Award. She has been an active board member of the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys (MAHA) since 2011 and served as President of MAHA in 2017. She鈥檚 an executive board member of the Mass Mentorship Partnership organization. She also founded and co-chairs the annual Juvenile Justice Youth Symposium since 2017 to engage and educate young people about the Juvenile justice system.
