Jelena Pejic (JP):听Studying for and taking these exams can help students prepare for the quantitative nature of MBA coursework. It is a great way for students that have been out of school for a while to transition back into an 鈥渁cademic鈥 mindset.
From an admissions standpoint, having a GMAT/GRE score can be beneficial鈥攅specially if you come from a non-business academic or professional background鈥攁s it provides evidence of your preparedness for the program. Even if you have business experience, our general view is that applicants that submit a GMAT/GRE score are听.
Additionally, a strong GMAT/GRE score can help balance out your application if you have a low undergraduate GPA or limited work experience. In this sense, submitting a test score can bolster your candidacy for scholarship as it contributes to the overall application review process.听
Lastly, keep in mind that future employers may require these scores. Employers in industries such as consulting, technology, and financial services see the GMAT/GRE as a great tool in gauging career preparedness, and will sometimes ask for these test scores in their job applications.
Q: Still, do I really need to submit a GMAT/GRE score?
JP:听The Admissions Committee views the GMAT/GRE as an additional metric to the admissions process in that it can help to add value to your background, experience, and preparation for the MBA program.听
Remember there is no minimum required GMAT/GRE score. You can always benchmark your score by looking at the听class profile information on our website.
That being said, our review process is a holistic one.There are ways you can successfully demonstrate your accomplishments and merits without submitting a test score. Oftentimes, this comes down to a matter of听 balance and how you put together your application. For instance, if your GPA is above the听average class score, your resume demonstrates clear career progress, you听put together a compelling essay, or have a solid letter or recommendation submitted on your behalf, you can definitely听.
Q: What does the GMAT/GRE waiver request process look like?
JP:听You can learn more about the听. Basically, you must submit an unofficial copy (or copies) of your undergraduate transcript(s) and a copy of your updated resume for review.听
Importantly, applicants with degrees from non-US institutions are required to submit an official English translation of all academic credentials, as well as a third-party degree verification from an agency such as听听辞谤听.听
If you meet all or most of the eligibility requirements listed on the waiver form, your GMAT/GRE may be waived and you will be notified by email.
