Andrea Olson

Assistant Professor

Profile

Andrea Olson teaches and writes in the areas of civil procedure, remedies, and structural constitutional law. She studies jurisdictional architecture, including the extent to which Congress can affect federal and state procedural, remedial, and substantive law through its exercise of control over federal court jurisdiction. Olson鈥檚 research is motivated by a belief that analyzing structural and remedial logic in the law is critical for promoting systemic integrity and fundamental fairness.听

Prior to joining BC Law, Olson was a Climenko Fellow at Harvard Law School where she taught legal research and writing as well as an upper-level elective on remedies and procedure. She received her B.A., cum laude, in Political Science from the University of California Berkeley.听 After several years working in California state government and health care regulatory consulting, she returned to U.C. Berkeley, where she received her J.D. with distinction.听

Olson clerked for the Honorable Andrew D. Hurwitz on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Honorable Jon S. Tigar of the U.S. District Court for the District of Northern California. She practiced with Latham & Watkins in San Francisco and is an admitted member of the California State Bar.
