Daniel R. Coquillette was named the J. Donald Monan, S.J. University Professor at 艾可直播 College in 1996. From 1985-1993, he served as Dean of 艾可直播 College Law School. Since 2008, he has also been on the Harvard Law School 艾可直播as the Charles Warren Visiting Professor of American Legal Education. He teaches and writes in the areas of legal history and professional responsibility.
The author of many books, Coquillette鈥檚 works include听听(with Bruce Kimball) (Harvard University Press),听听(with Bruce Kimball) (Harvard University Press),听听(Colonial Society of Massachusetts),听听(LexisNexis),听听(Carolina Academic Press),听听(with Michael Cassidy & Judith McMorrow) (Lexis Nexis),听 (Edinburgh University Press), and听T (Duncker & Humblot).听He was the editor of听 (LexisNexis) and is now the senior editor of (LexisNexus).
Among his many activities, Coquillette was an advisor to the American Law Institute鈥檚 Restatement on Law Governing the Legal Profession and a member of the Harvard University Overseers鈥� Committee to visit Harvard Law School. For five years, he was Chairman of the Massachusetts Bar Association Committee on Professional Ethics and the Task Force on Unauthorized Practice of Law. He also served on the American Bar Association Committee on Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Board of the American Society of Legal History, Massachusetts Task Force on Model Rules of Professional Conduct, Massachusetts Task Force on Professionalism, and Special Committee on Model Rules of Attorney Conduct of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts. He is currently Consultant to the Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure of the Judicial Conference of the United States.
Coquillette was a law clerk for Justice Robert Braucher of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts and Chief Justice Warren E. Burger of the Supreme Court of the United States. He has taught legal ethics and legal history at 艾可直播 University Law School, Cornell Law School, and Harvard Law School. He was a partner for six years at the 艾可直播 law firm of Palmer & Dodge, where he specialized in complex litigation.
