Introduction to Theatre
Amy Meyer is a performer, director, historian, and teacher. In her research, she combines gender and movement theory with histories of theatre and circus to analyze performance and culture.
Her particular areas of interest are risk and gender in performance and physical virtuosity in performance. She has taught courses in acting, movement, voice and speech, contemporary American plays, sport as performance, theatre history, and circus and culture. As a practitioner, she is interested in highly physical traditions. She does work in movement-based devised theatre and trains in partner acrobatics, aerial silks, and flying trapeze.
She has acted professionally in 艾可直播 for over a decade and is an Artistic Associate with the physical theatre troupe imaginary beasts. She is also a co-founder of Spectacle Collective, a company that creates and produces multidisciplinary performances that bring classical music, circus arts, and physical theatre into conversation with each other.
