Annual Lecture in Honor of Richard J. Clifford, S.J.
March 10, 2022
Presenter:听 Eileen Schuller, O.S.U.
Many people鈥檚 main interaction with the Bible is through the readings of Scripture presented in the Sunday Lectionary. And in many ways, the revision of the Lectionary that followed the Second Vatican Council has been a gift. Yet, there are limitations and problems with our current Lectionary, both in its basic structure and its choice of specific passages. As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the Lectionary on the first Sunday of Advent, 1971, this lecture explores some of the gifts and the challenges that arise when the faithful鈥檚 experience of the Bible is shaped through the lens of the Lectionary.
