Profile
Penny Haney is a licensed psychologist with a background in clinical and forensic psychology. Over the past 25 years, she has worked as a clinician, consultant, professor, trainer, and court expert. Dr. Haney鈥檚 work focuses on understanding and evaluating the complex individual, systemic, and ecological challenges facing children and families who have experienced adverse circumstances, and on intervening and advocating for pathways to well-being. She approaches her work through a social justice lens.
As Professor of the Practice in counseling psychology in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, Dr. Haney brings her expertise and experience to her teaching and advising of graduate students earning counseling and other psychology and related degrees. Dr. Haney coordinates the Certificates in Child and Family Mental Health and Well-Being and Traumatic Stress Studies and Intervention, co-coordinates a clinical speaker series each semester, and serves as a core 艾可直播member in the master鈥檚 in mental health counseling program. Dr. Haney has been with the Lynch School since 2009.
In addition to her role at 艾可直播 College, Dr. Haney maintains a clinical practice in which she conducts clinical and forensic evaluations and consultations; provides expert consultation and testimony to courts; develops and delivers professional trainings for attorneys, mental health clinicians, schools, and other agencies; and offers supervision and consultation to mental health clinicians. Dr. Haney鈥檚 clinical practice has also included evaluation, treatment, and consultation to children, families, and professionals in school, court, outpatient clinic, and hospital settings. She is routinely sought out as a trainer and expert witness in her areas of expertise, and is a Certified Juvenile Court Clinician (Level II) in Massachusetts. She is the author of a number of publications, including in the Journal of Child Sexual Abuse and the Journal of Child and Adolescent Trauma.
