How do you increase opportunity in education? Henry Braun has spent years investigating the answers. His expertise includes college access to STEM teaching and learning, assessment and accountability, international assessment surveys, and outcomes of liberal education.
Braun is director of the °¬¿ÉÖ±²¥ College Center for the Study of Testing, Evaluation, and Education Policy. Among his years of consulting experience, he has contributed to the National Education Association and, since 2007, the Educational Testing Service. He received his bachelor’s degree from McGill University and his master’s and doctoral degrees from Stanford University.
For his contributions in education research and methodology, the American Educational Research Association honored Braun with the Division D 2018 Robert L. Linn Distinguished Address Award and the Palmer Johnson Award in 1986. In 2017, he was elected to the prestigious National Academy of Education—a collection of over 200 elite researchers who addresses education’s most pressing issues. He has also acted as a member of the steering committee for the National Academy of Education’s Working Group on International Large-Scale Assessment Surveys.Â
Braun is associate editor of the Journal of Educational Change and Education Policy Analysis Archives. In 2000, he was granted a patent for a computer-based simulation of architectural practice.
