Liz Shchepetylnykova听(Hans de Wit Fellow)
Liz (Ielyzaveta) Shchepetylnykova is the 2024 Hans de Wit Fellow in CIHE. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Hong Kong, where her scholarship focused on the transformations in higher education and research practices in post-Soviet Ukraine. Liz investigated epistemic and institutional changes across the disciplines previously indoctrinated with the Marxist-Leninist ideology of the Soviet Union. Her research also delves into the complexities of the crisis-driven internationalization of Ukrainian higher education and academic profession, unpacking multi-faced implications of Russia鈥檚 war against Ukraine. As de Wit Fellow, Liz studies the contribution of displaced Ukrainian scholars to their host campuses in the US. This study focuses on advancing understanding of the changing ways of knowing, identifying legitimate knowledge, and addressing long-lasting epistemic injustices through internationalization.
Yizhen Zhang
Yizhen Zhang is an Associate Professor in the College of Education, Hebei University (China). Her research interests include the history of higher education, models of student funding, liberal arts traditions, citizenship education and听undergraduate teaching.听
