Student Success
Messina College is committed to helping students meet the challenges and opportunities of post-secondary studies through a range of general and course-based academic support services, including mentoring and tutoring.
Mentorship
- Students will be paired with a mentor at orientation to help them navigate the associate鈥檚 degree journey.
- Messina residence halls will interact on a regular basis with a sister residence hall on the Chestnut Hill campus.
Tutoring
- Students can book subject-specific tutoring sessions on either the Brookline campus or the Connors Family Learning Center on the Chestnut Hill campus.
- The English department offers 1:1 tutoring sessions in its Writing Center.
- The Math department offers drop-in tutoring sessions throughout the academic year.
Career Services
Students will work with the Messina College Assistant Director, Career Education to identify potential internships that will help them build valuable career skills.聽
Throughout their two years on the Brookline campus, students will have access to professional skills building workshops including resume writing, interviewing techniques, and the development of the soft skills employers are looking for in candidates.
Additional support that is provided throughout each stage of the student鈥檚 job search includes:
- Individualized coaching with a dedicated career coach to help students define their professional goals, develop a job search plan, and prepare high-quality job search materials.
- Online resources and platforms to support the job search, connect with alumni, practice interviews, and research career fields and organizations.
- Career search workshops, events, and programs to help students explore and achieve their goals.
Laptops
Each Messina College student will receive a free聽laptop at orientation. The laptops will be provisioned with all of the required software for their courses.
Textbooks
Messina College will provide every enrolled student with access to all required materials on or before the first day of class. The Campus Bookstore gets everything ready for you. All you need to do is check your BC email for how to access your course materials for the term. In most cases, the required materials will be digital.

Print
You will receive confirmation emails sharing details to access digital materials. If you have physical materials, the campus bookstore will communicate with you when you can pick up these materials.
Depending on your classes and the course materials your 艾可直播requires, you may receive a combination of: digital course materials, printed textbooks, printed lab manuals, or workbooks.
Required materials are supplied at the beginning of each term. The materials will be accessible on or before the first day of class. Please continue to check your BC email (from noreply@follett.com) before the start of each term.
Physical materials will be available for pickup in the campus bookstore. Please check your email for when your materials are ready.

Printed materials are yours to keep at the end of each term. Digital materials can be accessed for a minimum of 180 days and may be available for longer period of time based on the material adopted and the publisher鈥檚 terms.
No, your professor will assign either print or digital textbook editions for your specific course prior to the start of class.
If you add or drop a course, that information is automatically transmitted to the bookstore.
- Added courses: Within 24 hours of adding a course, you will receive an email at your BC email address with details to access your digital materials and/or materials are added directly into Canvas. For printed materials, you will receive an email to your BC email address letting you know when the new print materials are ready for pick-up.
- Dropped courses: For courses dropped prior to the last day to drop/add/opt-out deadline, access to electronic or digital materials will be automatically disabled. Printed materials must be returned to the campus bookstore.
