Christopher R. Matthews, editor of聽New Testament Abstracts聽and Research Professor of Early Christianity, received his doctoral degree in New Testament and Christian Origins from Harvard in 1993. He started with聽New Testament Abstracts聽in 1986 and has written some 27,500 abstracts to date and edited an additional 30,000 or so. He is a member of the Catholic Biblical Association and the Society of Biblical Literature. In the latter Society, among other positions, he has served as the Coordinator of the New England SBL Region (1995-2001, 2005-2006), as a member of the SBL Council (1996-2002), as editor of the SBL Symposium Series (2000-2007, resulting in 27 published volumes),as聽 co-chair of the SBL Redescribing Early Christianity Group (2007-12), and聽 as a member of the Steering Committee for the SBL Christian Apocrypha Section (2000-13). He is co-editor with Fran莽ois Bovon and Ann Graham Brock of聽The Apocryphal Acts of the Apostles: Harvard Divinity School Studies聽(1999), author of聽Philip: Apostle and Evangelist. Configurations of a Tradition聽(2002), and translator with Fran莽ois Bovon of聽The Acts of Philip: A New Translation聽(2012). He also is currently Editor-in-Chief for Oxford Bibliographies: Biblical Studies, an online annotated research guide (see聽http://www.oxfordbibliographies.com/obo/page/biblical-studies).
