Andrea Vicini, S.J. is the聽Michael P. Walsh Professor of Bioethics in the School of Theology and Ministry at 艾可直播 College. A Jesuit priest, moral theologian, and medical doctor (pediatrician), his interests and expertise include: fundamental moral theology, bioethics, biotechnologies, reproductive technologies, end of life issues, medical ethics, genetics, global health, and environmental issues. This native of Italy has taught in Italy, Albania, Mexico, Chad, and France. He is the author of the book,聽Human Genetics and the Common Good聽(Cinisello Balsamo: San Paolo, 2008), and co-editor of the books,聽Building Bridges in Sarajevo: The Plenary Papers of Sarajevo 2018 (Orbis Books, 2019),聽Just Sustainability: Technology, Ecology, and Resource Extraction聽(Orbis Press, 2015), and聽The Legacy of Vatican II, (Paulist Press, 2015). Dr. Vicini is a lecturer and a member of associations of moral theologians and bioethicists (in Italy, Europe, and the USA) and the co-chair of the international network of Catholic moral theologians 鈥淐atholic Theological Ethics in the World Church." He is currently writing a book on the ethical issues concerning new biotechnologies that will examine: global health, regenerative medicine, neuroscience, synthetic biology, and nanotechnology. Dr. Vicini is widely published in English and Italian and has even published for the Jesuit journal聽La Civilt脿 Cattolica, which requires vetting by the Vatican.聽During the academic year 2015-2016, he was a fellow at the Center of Theological Inquiry (Princeton, NJ) where his research focused on the societal implication of astrobiology.
