Jonathan Laurence's research interests are transatlantic relations, Islam in Europe, North Africa and Turkey. He is the author of two critically acclaimed books;听The Emancipation of Europe鈥檚 Muslims: The State鈥檚 Role in Minority Integration听(Princeton University Press 2012) and听Integrating Islam: Political and Religious Challenges in Contemporary France听(Brookings Institution Press, 2006).听Prof. Laurence鈥檚 research and insight have been featured in听The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Economist听and on听National Public Radio听and听颁狈狈. His articles have been published by听European Political Science, Foreign Affairs, Foreign Policy, International Crisis Group, Le Monde, Perspectives on Politics, Sueddeutsche Zeitung, Der Tagesspiegel听and other US and international periodicals and think tanks. He is completing a new book comparing how Roman Catholic and Sunni Muslim religious institutions have coped with the loss of political power, to be published next year with Princeton University Press. He has been a Berlin prize fellow at the American Academy in Berlin, a visiting professor at LUISS Guido Carli in Rome, senior fellow at the Transatlantic Academy, a Council on the U.S. and Italy visiting fellow at the Brookings Institution, a guest researcher at New York University, Sciences Po-Paris and Wissenchaftszentrum Berlin, and a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations.听
