The philosophy department has a distinguished °¬¿ÉÖ±²¥committed to excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring students. Philosophy department °¬¿ÉÖ±²¥contribute to the University’s core curriculum, the undergraduate major, and graduate programs. The philosophy department °¬¿ÉÖ±²¥is noted for its strengths in the history of philosophy, contemporary continental philosophy, and practical philosophy. In addition, our °¬¿ÉÖ±²¥members are actively engaged in research and teaching in the philosophy of science, philosophy of religion, ethics, aesthetics, metaphysics, social-political philosophy, Asian philosophy, and diaspora studies.

Member of the Académie française, and Emeritus Professor at the Université Paris-Sorbonne, and Professor at The University of Chicago and the Institut Catholique de Paris. Prof. Marion is a world renowned philosopher and Catholic theologian. He was recently awarded the Joseph Ratzinger Prize in Theology.
