Many of my colleagues work, most of them some amount of part-time, but some of my peers work full time. If you do need to work full time to make grad school happen, the easiest schedule is obviously 3x 12-hour shifts to free up more days for class and homework. I, personally, think that full-time working would be too much for the level of detail I hope to get from/give to the program. I think it is difficult to complete the requirements and contribute 100% if working completely full time, but there are some that do it! I work between 12 and 20 hours each week. For the last three semesters, I did reduce my hours to make room for clinical, which was consistent with what our program advisors have said too.

I took my boards in June听and accepted a job offer in July for a September start date. I think the job market, if you choose to stay in 艾可直播, is quite competitive, and I didn鈥檛 have much luck within the city where I applied. Some classmates were hired by their clinical placements, so that made for an easy transition. But for myself, despite having a full-time job as an RN, I wanted to start working as an NP by September,听which means I didn鈥檛 look for a job in 艾可直播 as long as some of my classmates did. I was open to moving literally anywhere, and I applied to jobs across听the US and had a few offers from multiple Planned Parenthood鈥檚听and a small town听reproductive health facility. I think my flexibility to move to a new city, as well as my fluency in Spanish, helped make me a good job candidate as a new grad.听

We have increased the total required clinical hours from 500, for most specialties in the MS, to nearly 1,000 for the DNP. We have also introduced an innovative model for developing your DNP clinical project in conjunction with clinical sites. The course content is better integrated to build upon your foundational coursework with your clinical content.听And the DNP coursework will better prepare students for the busy, ever-changing field of health care, while also offering the highest level of education to nurse leaders and nurse practitioners.
