Melissa Uveges

Profile

Melissa Uveges, Ph.D., M.A.R., RN, HEC-C, is an assistant professor at the Connell School of Nursing. Her research and work focus on improving the care of children with genetic conditions, as well as the health and care experience of their families.

Dr. Uveges has worked as a bioethics consultant at Montefiore Medical Center (Bronx, NY), as well as a registered nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at several academic teaching hospitals, most recently at Johns Hopkins Children鈥檚 Center in Baltimore, MD.

Dr. Uveges received postdoctoral research training in genetics and ethics at Harvard Medical School after earning her Ph.D. in nursing at Johns Hopkins University and studying ethics, policy, management, and leadership at Yale University. She has served on hospital ethics committees and working groups at Advent Health Orlando (FL), Yale-New Haven Hospital (CT), Montefiore Medical Center (NY), and Johns Hopkins Hospital (MD). She is a current member of 艾可直播 Children鈥檚 Hospital, Ethics Advisory Committee.

Dr. Uveges is a member of the International Society of Nurses in Genetics (ISONG), American Society of Bioethics and Humanities (ASBH), and International Family Nursing Association IFNA). She has received numerous research and scholarship awards from institutions and other organizations, including Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), Southern and Eastern Nursing Research Societies (SNRS & ENRS), Rockefeller University, and the March of Dimes.
